Love Child

Precious life ... curled up tight
in my ripe-melon belly
moving me deeply
Sweet possibility
You, who will move me to grow
Yet now stretching me, for life's sake
Your beauty amazes me...
Though my eyes have not gazed upon you
I am 'filled up' with your magnificence
I know not your name
Yet called you forth into life
Conceived by love's urgency
And now, the waiting over
We, who are wonderfully complete
Must separate, in order to meet
Precious life...Is unfolding

As a man I can never experience these precious feelings directly...however, I did have sympathetic labor pains when we had our first child...My wife let me snuggle next to her belly and whisper to the soon to be Jeffery...I would sleep there, warm, waiting for his tiny movements, wanting to hold him close...
In her 7th month I started getting little stabs of stomach cramps, usually at work, which I calmed down with an Alka-Seltzer...The pains stopped after she gave birth...
This is such a lovely expression of a mother's birthing experience, an experience to be cherished for a lifetime...Thank you for this touching poem...Larry
Thank you for a beautiful and evocative poem.
awesome and very touching. you explained the great gift of God just splendidly.
Ah yes, you've described it all perfectly. The last time I was pregnant was just over three years ago, and I remember it all with crystal clarity - the most beautiful experiences of my life. I absolutely love being pregnant, and being in labour :) That's why I did it three times.
Thank you.
Beautiful.
Gosh this is beautiful, simply awesome.
So beautiful. Thank you Ma'am!

Absolutely awesome!!! I loved being pregnant, having my sons right there under my heart in the safeness of me. Wonderful creatures of God that I am humbled at being their mom. Thank you for this wonderful reminder of those days many years ago when we were as one and complete.
